A Run Profile is a named, reusable bundle of Analysis Run settings you save once and load again whenever you want to repeat the same kind of analysis without re-entering every input.

What it means in RankGear
When you start an Analysis Run, you choose the inputs that define it — the keyword, target page, location, device, and the set of factors you want RankGear to score. A Run Profile captures that whole configuration under a name so it becomes a reusable starting point. Instead of rebuilding the same setup each time, you pick the profile from the Analysis Run → Profile selector and RankGear pre-fills the run with those saved inputs. Profiles are yours to manage: you can create a new one, update an existing one as your workflow changes, select between them, and delete the ones you no longer need.
How to interpret it
Treat a Run Profile as workflow scaffolding, not a result. It records what to analyze and how, not the outcome of any single run. Before you launch, confirm three things: that the selected inputs still match the job you have in mind, that the profile is the active one for this run, and — once the run finishes — that the report or workbook RankGear produced is the artifact you expected. Because a profile is reusable, the most common source of confusion is a stale setting carried over from a previous analysis, so a quick review of the loaded inputs is worth the few seconds it takes.
Example
Say you track a plumbing client and run the same competitive analysis every week for the keyword “emergency plumber Austin,” scoped to Austin on mobile with your standard factor set. You save that configuration once as a profile named “Austin — Emergency Plumber (mobile).” Each Monday you open Analysis Run, select that profile, and launch — no re-typing the keyword or resetting the location. When the client later asks about desktop performance, you clone the setup into a second profile with device set to desktop, and switch between the two as needed.
Important considerations
- A Run Profile describes RankGear navigation and workflow behavior. It is not a ranking signal and has no direct effect on how any page performs in search.
- A profile stores inputs, not results. Updating a profile changes future runs; it does not retroactively alter reports produced by earlier runs.
- Reused profiles can carry forward settings that no longer fit — an old location, device, or factor selection. Verify the loaded inputs before each launch so you are comparing like with like.
- Any factor scores a run produces are comparative indicators drawn from provider data, not Google’s own scores, so read them as evidence to weigh rather than as causes of ranking.
