How Digitaleer handles information for the RankGear website and desktop app.
1. Who we are
Digitaleer, LLC (“Digitaleer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes RankGear, desktop search-engine-optimization software for macOS and Windows, and operates rankgear.com. Questions about this policy can be sent through our contact page or to privacy@rankgear.com.
2. The short version
RankGear stores your settings, provider credentials, projects, and reports on your computer. We do not operate a server that receives your SEO projects or provider keys from the current desktop app. When you use a connected feature, the app sends the information needed for that request directly from your computer to the chosen provider or destination. Providers may keep requests under their own terms and your account settings. RankGear’s website separately handles the contact and usage information described below.
3. Information the website handles
- If you contact us, we receive the name, email address, message, and other information you choose to send so we can respond and provide support.
- Our website hosting and any analytics we use may record standard information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring pages. We use this information to operate the site and understand traffic.
- The website may use essential cookies and, where applicable, analytics cookies. You can use the site’s cookie controls and your browser settings to manage them.
4. Information the desktop app stores and sends
RankGear stores settings, provider credentials, keyword sets, analysis data, generated workbooks, and reports on your computer. Provider credentials are kept in a local file restricted to your operating-system account, not in the macOS Keychain. The Mac App Store edition uses its own sandbox storage, separate from the direct-download edition. Exported files remain wherever you save them, including copies and backups you make.
When you request a connected feature, RankGear sends information directly to the selected service using your credentials:
- SerpApi, Bright Data, or RapidAPI may receive your search query and the search region or map coordinates you enter. Those coordinates describe the area you ask RankGear to search; the app does not request your device location.
- DomDetailer and DataForSEO may receive domains for enabled domain and backlink lookups. TextRazor may receive page text for enabled entity extraction.
- Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google may receive the material described in the confirmation prompt for an AI feature. Depending on the feature, that can include your prompt, business context, page excerpts, workbook evidence, experiment details, or outreach positioning information. You can cancel before RankGear sends the AI request.
- ClickUp receives task content only when you choose to create a task in your connected workspace. A deployment destination receives the files and authentication information needed for a deployment you initiate. RankGear does not automatically send prospect messages or deploy files.
Connection-test buttons contact the corresponding provider and may send a small test request. Your provider credential or account identifier is sent to that provider to authenticate the request. Provider usage may incur charges separate from the RankGear subscription. Providers may retain account identifiers, queries, prompts, page content, and responses according to their policies and your account settings. We do not control those providers’ retention or deletion processes.
To analyze a website, RankGear requests its pages and embedded resources. Those sites and services receive ordinary web request information, including your IP address. Map reports may load tiles from OpenStreetMap or Google and disclose the displayed map area. An exported HTML report may make those map requests when opened outside RankGear.
The current desktop app has no Digitaleer-operated advertising or analytics collector and no RankGear account service.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple handles payments for RankGear subscriptions purchased through the Mac App Store. RankGear reads Apple-verified transaction information on the Mac to determine subscription access, renewal, expiration, billing grace, and revocation. We do not receive your payment-card details or operate a server that receives these purchase records. Apple handles payment information under its own privacy policy and your Apple Account settings. Purchases on other platforms, where available, are handled by the applicable store or provider.
The optional demo uses synthetic provider responses and a separate temporary workspace. It does not call external search or AI services, create tasks in third-party accounts, or publish files. Demo artifacts are examples, not live research. Temporary demo workspaces may remain on the Mac until the operating system clears them; copies you export remain until you remove them.
6. How we use information
We use website and support information to operate, secure, and improve the website, respond to your inquiries, and send updates you requested. We may also use information as needed to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms. We do not sell your personal information. Desktop connected-service requests are made to perform the feature you choose; provider accounts and their independent uses are governed by the provider agreements you accept.
7. Sharing
Website hosting, analytics, and email providers may handle information needed to run the website and respond to you. The desktop app sends information directly to the connected services and destinations described in section 4 when you use those features. Digitaleer does not receive a copy of those requests through a RankGear-operated server. We may also disclose information we hold when required by law or as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable requirements.
8. Retention, control, and deletion
We keep website and contact information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. RankGear’s local settings and reports remain on your computer until you remove them. Remove a saved provider key in Settings > API keys; disable optional integrations in Settings > APIs; and delete reports from the output folder you selected. You may cancel an AI confirmation prompt before that request is sent.
Removing a local key or file does not revoke that credential at its provider, remove exported copies or backups, or delete data the provider already kept. Use the provider’s account controls to revoke keys and request access to or deletion of information the provider retains. You can manage or cancel a Mac App Store subscription through your Apple Account.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information we hold, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us through our contact page or at privacy@rankgear.com. We will respond under applicable law. For information held by a connected provider, use that provider’s account and privacy tools.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information under our control. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. The security of locally stored data also depends on how you protect your computer and provider accounts.
11. Children
RankGear is a professional tool intended for business use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will revise the effective date when we do and provide a more prominent notice for material changes where appropriate.
