A Roadmap is the ordered list of factor-specific changes RankGear builds for a page, ranked from the significant relationships it measured, your page’s current values, and the goal you selected for the analysis.

What it means in RankGear
Once an analysis has scored your page against its comparison set, the Roadmap turns those measurements into an ordered plan. RankGear looks at the factors where the ranking pages show a significant relationship with position, compares each one to where your target page currently sits, and weighs the gap against the goal you chose. The factors with the largest, best-supported deficits rise to the top of the list; the ones where your page already matches the field drop away. What you get in the Analysis dashboard and the workbook’s Roadmap view is not a raw factor dump but a prioritized sequence of concrete changes, each tied back to the measurement that justified it.
How to interpret it
Read the Roadmap as a ranked hypothesis, not a checklist to clear top to bottom in isolation. Each item earns its place from three things at once: how strong the relationship between that factor and ranking was in this comparison set, how far your page sits from the field, and how the selected goal weighted it. Before you act on an item, look at the factor beside its supporting correlation and the values across the comparison pages, so you are changing something the measured SERP actually rewards rather than chasing a number for its own sake. Work the higher-priority items first, but treat the whole list as guidance for this page and this query, re-derived whenever you rerun the analysis.
Example
You analyze a service page targeting “commercial roof coating” with the goal set to reach the top three. RankGear finds your page is well below the field on body word count and missing the query term in its H1, both factors that showed a significant relationship with position in this comparison set. The Roadmap places those two changes at the top, ahead of a minor image-alt gap where your page nearly matches the ranking pages, giving you an ordered plan that starts with the deficits most likely to move the page toward the goal.
Important considerations
- The Roadmap is derived from the specific comparison set and goal of one analysis, so rerunning the keyword later, or changing the goal, can reorder or replace its items.
- Its ordering reflects measured relationships in the current SERP, not a universal rulebook. The changes are evidence-based recommendations, not a guarantee that acting on them lifts rankings.
- Correlation is not causation. A factor appearing high on the Roadmap means ranking pages tend to share that trait, not that the trait by itself caused their positions.
- Factor values behind the Roadmap carry the scale and coverage limits of whichever provider supplied them, so read each recommendation against its supporting correlation rather than in isolation.
