What it means in RankGear
Ask Claude lives under the Analyse menu. It is a question-and-answer panel wired directly to your working data: the run you just finished, any saved workbooks you point it at, or a combination of the two. Instead of exporting numbers and interpreting them elsewhere, you ask a question in plain language and Claude reads the selected inputs to answer it — comparing your page against the competitors in the run, summarising where the gaps sit, or explaining what a cluster of factor scores is telling you.
How to interpret it
Ask Claude is a workflow surface, not a scoring metric, so read it accordingly. Before you trust an answer, confirm three things: which inputs are selected (the current run, a specific workbook, or both), what state that task is in, and what artifact RankGear says it produced. An answer is only as good as the data it was pointed at — ask about the wrong run and you get a confident answer to the wrong question. Treat its output as an interpretation of your data to sanity-check, not a verdict to paste unread.
Example
You finish a run for the query “commercial roof coatings” and want to know why your page trails the top three results. You open Analyse → Ask Claude, leave the latest run selected, and ask which on-page factors separate your page from the leaders. Claude reads the run and replies that the top pages carry noticeably deeper coverage of application and warranty terms, then points to the specific factors driving the difference — giving you a shortlist to work from rather than a wall of scores to decode yourself.
Important considerations
- Ask Claude describes RankGear behaviour and navigation — it is a place to interrogate your data, not a ranking signal in its own right.
- The quality of any answer depends entirely on the inputs you select; check that the right run or workbook is active before you act on what it says.
- The factor comparisons it surfaces are correlational indicators drawn from the pages currently ranking, not confirmed Google scores — they show what the leaders have in common, not a guarantee that copying it will move you up.
