Search Result Domain is .com, .net, or .org

This factor reports whether a search result’s parsed top-level domain is one of .com, .net, or .org — returning 1 when it is and 0 otherwise. It describes URL structure only, and a 1 is not inherently preferable to a 0.

What it measures

This factor reports whether the parsed top-level domain of a result is .com, .net, or .org. It is a plain observation about the URL’s TLD across the measured result set — nothing about the page’s content, quality, or why it holds its position.

How RankGear measures it

RankGear lowercases the parsed TLD and returns 1 when it is one of those three values, and 0 for every other TLD. The check runs against RankGear’s parsed URL components and its TLD table, so the result reflects how the URL was decomposed rather than any live registry lookup.

ValueMeaning
1Parsed TLD is .com, .net, or .org
0Parsed TLD is anything else (for example a country-code or newer generic TLD)

How to optimize it

Treat this as an observation, not a target. Choose URLs and domains for user clarity, brand fit, security, and stable architecture — not to match a correlated binary pattern. Do not migrate or restructure URLs solely to move this signal from 0 to 1; the pattern this factor tracks is a description of the result set, not a lever that changes position.

Important considerations

  • This reports URL structure, not content quality or ranking causation.
  • Values depend on RankGear’s parsed URL components and TLD table.
  • URL and domain changes can carry material migration risk.
  • A value of 1 is not inherently preferable to 0 — correlation within a result set is not a guarantee of ranking.
