What it measures
This factor counts keyword variations found in sample program-output elements. The samp tag marks up text that represents literal output from a computer program or system — a console line, an error message, a returned value — and this factor totals how many of your tracked keyword variations occur within that output text.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear extracts the recognized samp contents without any additional HTML cleaning, then totals case-insensitive whole-word variation matches inside that captured text. Matching is whole-word and case-insensitive, so Result and result count the same, but a substring buried inside a longer token does not count as a match.

Use samp only for authentic computer or system output, and keep those examples technically accurate and relevant to the page. Treat the resulting count as an observation about your technical content rather than a target to inflate — there is no threshold to reach, and padding samp blocks with keywords misuses the tag. For most pages, zero is the correct and expected value.
Important considerations
- Nested markup remains in the measured capture — RankGear reads the
sampcontents as-is, so any tags nested inside are part of what is counted. - The factor does not assess technical correctness; it only counts variation occurrences, not whether the sample output is right.
- Most non-technical pages should score zero, and that is expected rather than a deficiency.
- Do not place ordinary prose in
samp— the tag is reserved for genuine program or system output. - This is a correlation-based prioritization signal within a measured result set, not a lever that makes a page rank or guarantees any position.
