Skip Off-Page Factors

Skip Off-Page Factors is an Analysis Run option that turns off backlink, entity, and domain-provider lookups, so a run measures only the signals RankGear can read directly and incurs no billable off-page requests.

What it means in RankGear

In the Analysis Run setup, off-page enrichment normally reaches out to third-party providers for backlinks, referring domains, entity data, and domain-authority metrics. Each of those calls can count as a billable lookup. Turning on Skip Off-Page Factors tells RankGear to run the analysis without any of those external requests, so the run draws solely on the on-page and content signals it gathers itself. Off-page columns simply go unfilled for that run.

How to interpret it

With this option enabled, any authority or entity column in the workbook stays empty. Read that as “not measured,” not as a data gap or a zero: a blank backlink figure under a skipped run means the lookup was never performed, not that the page has no backlinks. Keep provider availability separate from the measured value, and compare authority or entity evidence only among pages analyzed under the same run conditions.

Example

Say you are iterating on a page’s heading structure and word count and want quick, cheap re-runs. You enable Skip Off-Page Factors so each analysis skips the provider round-trips, returns faster, and spends no lookup credits. Once the on-page work settles, you run the page one more time with off-page enrichment on, pulling referring domains and authority metrics into the comparison sheet for a full competitive read.

Important considerations

  • Runs made with this option on carry no backlink, entity, or authority data, so they are not directly comparable to runs where off-page enrichment was enabled.
  • Provider metrics use different indexes and scales; they are comparative indicators, not Google scores, and no such metric “makes pages rank.”
  • Skipping off-page lookups saves billable requests and shortens run time, which makes it well suited to fast on-page iteration before a final full analysis.
