Off-Page Enrichment

Off-Page Enrichment is an optional, provider-backed data pull that adds link, domain, and entity signals from outside the page itself — backlinks, referring domains, and authority metrics — to a RankGear analysis.

What it means in RankGear

Off-Page Enrichment is a setting you can enable on an Analysis Run. RankGear already crawls each competing URL for on-page factors; with enrichment on and a data provider connected, it also asks that provider for signals that live outside the page — referring domains, backlink counts, entity associations, and the provider’s own authority estimates for the URL and its domain. Those values land in the same comparison workbook as the on-page factors, so an off-page column sits beside the on-page columns for every page in the run.

How to interpret it

Read enrichment in two parts. First, whether a provider was available and actually returned data: a blank column usually means the provider was disabled or had no record for that URL, not that the page has zero links. Second, the value itself, which is only meaningful compared across pages measured in the same run under the same provider. Do not mix authority numbers from two different providers or two separate runs — their crawl indexes and scales differ, so the figures are not interchangeable.

Example

You run an analysis on “commercial roof coating” with an off-page provider connected. RankGear returns a referring-domain count and the provider’s domain-authority estimate for each of the top ten results. In the workbook, the pages ranking above yours also show more referring domains — a pattern worth noting, though it sits alongside dozens of on-page factors rather than explaining the ranking by itself.

Important considerations

  • Enrichment is optional and depends on a connected provider; with none enabled, the run proceeds on page content alone and the off-page columns stay empty.
  • Provider metrics use their own index and scale — they are comparative indicators, not Google scores, and they do not translate one-to-one between providers.
  • Compare authority and link evidence only among pages from the same run measured under identical conditions.
  • A correlation between more links and higher rank is not proof that links caused it; treat enrichment as one signal among many, not a cause of ranking.
