Nearby Keyword Results is RankGear’s companion report of the local businesses that a search provider returns for the run’s keyword at a specific coordinate center. It shows who ranks in the local pack or map for that query near that point, not the classic organic links.

What it means in RankGear
When a run includes a local keyword and a coordinate context, RankGear collects the businesses the provider serves for that query near that point and writes them into a Selectable HTML report you can open and inspect. Each entry is a listing the provider considered locally relevant, tied to the same latitude and longitude the run used, so the report reflects one place at one moment rather than a national average. Because it lives in the selectable HTML output, you can scan the businesses, copy them out, and line them up against your own tracked listing to see who else is competing for the same nearby searcher.
How to interpret it
Read this report only after you have pinned down the context that produced it: the exact coordinate center, the provider whose data was queried, the grid spacing and depth of the run, and which business identity you are tracking. Those four settings decide who shows up. A listing that ranks strongly at your chosen center can fall away a few blocks over, and a different provider or a deeper scan can surface competitors the shallow view missed. Treat the result set as the answer to a very specific question of “who ranks here, right now, for this query,” and change any one input and expect the cast of businesses to change with it.
Example
You run a keyword like “emergency plumber” across a grid centered on a client’s shop. In the Nearby Keyword Results report the client appears third at the center point, drops out of the returned set entirely at a grid node six blocks north, and at a node to the east the row records a provider error instead of a ranking. The same report lists the four competing plumbers that consistently hold the top spots across those nearby points, which tells you exactly which businesses are winning the proximity you are trying to reach.
Important considerations
- Map and local-pack rankings are highly proximity-sensitive: the same query can return a different set of businesses as you move the coordinate center, change zoom, or shift a grid node even a short distance.
- Results also drift with the provider’s data and with time, so two runs on different days or against different providers are not directly comparable.
- Provider errors and “not found” states at individual grid points are normal and should be read as gaps in coverage for that point, not as a business being penalized.
- These are comparative, provider-scaled indicators of local visibility. They describe who a provider returns near a location, not a Google ranking score, and a listing appearing here does not by itself cause or explain rankings.
