Number of Vimeo Embeds is a simple count of how many times a recognized Vimeo player URL appears in the rendered page body. It is a raw occurrence tally, not a measure of unique videos or whether any of them actually play — and a higher count neither causes nor guarantees a ranking.

What it measures
This factor counts recognized Vimeo player URL occurrences on the page. Each match found in the rendered, script-free body adds to the total, so the value reflects how many Vimeo player references are present — nothing more. It does not judge which videos are relevant, whether they load, or whether the same video appears more than once.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear counts case-insensitive occurrences of the string //player.vimeo.com/video/ in the page body. Repeated references count separately, so the same video embedded twice contributes two to the count. Alternate embed formats are missed, and playback is never tested — the tally is based purely on matching player URLs in the markup.
What RankGear looks for
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/76979871"></iframe>How to optimize it
Treat this as an observation about your page, not a target to inflate. Embed a Vimeo video only when it genuinely improves explanation, proof, instruction, or user experience. Where you do embed, supply titles, captions or transcripts, responsive sizing, and performance-conscious loading so the video helps rather than weighs the page down. Adding embeds purely to raise the count works against the reader and against page performance.
Important considerations
- The count does not measure unique videos — the same video embedded twice counts as two.
- More embeds can increase page weight and reader distraction.
- Relevance and accessibility matter far more than raw quantity.
- Alternate valid Vimeo embed formats may score differently, since only the
//player.vimeo.com/video/pattern is matched. - This is a correlation-based prioritization signal within a measured result set; a higher count does not make a page rank and guarantees nothing.
