What it measures
This factor counts keyword variations that appear inside HTML list items (<li> elements). Rather than looking at the page as a whole, it isolates the text you have chosen to present as lists — steps, features, examples, criteria — and measures how much of your keyword’s variation vocabulary surfaces there.

Where a list genuinely serves the reader — scannable steps, features, examples, or criteria — write each item descriptively and on-topic so the wording naturally carries the concepts a strong page would cover. Do not convert prose into lists solely to raise the count; a lower number on a well-written page is not a defect.
Important considerations
- Both navigation lists and content lists contribute to the count — the factor does not distinguish menus from body copy.
- Repeated template menus can dominate the total, inflating it independently of the article itself.
- Matching occurs only after the HTML is cleaned from each list item, so markup and attributes are not counted.
- Do not convert prose to lists solely to chase keyword occurrences.
- This is a correlational prioritization signal that relates to position within a measured result set. A higher count does not make a page rank or guarantee a position.
