This factor counts keyword variations found inside HTML <cite> elements. The cite tag is a semantic marker for the title of a cited work — a book, article, study, or other referenced source. RankGear looks only at the text held within those tags, so the score reflects how often your keyword and its variations show up specifically in the works you cite, not anywhere else on the page.

Treat this as an observation of your citation habits, not a target to inflate. Use <cite> semantically — for the titles of the works you actually reference — and choose relevant, on-topic sources that strengthen the evidence behind the page. If your keyword naturally appears in the titles of the works you cite, this count reflects that; forcing variations into cite tags where they do not belong misuses the element.
