Variations in Blockquote Tags counts how many times your keyword variations appear inside blockquote elements on the page. It returns a whole number — the total case-insensitive, whole-word matches found in cleaned quoted text. It is an observation about where your terms surface, not a target to inflate, and a higher count never on its own moves a page up the results.

What it measures
This factor counts keyword variations that appear in content enclosed by blockquote elements. It looks only inside quoted passages — the material an author has explicitly marked as a quotation — and tallies how many of your tracked variations land there. The result is a single occurrence count for the page, scoped to that quoted zone rather than the body copy as a whole.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear extracts the recognized blockquote contents, cleans their HTML, and totals case-insensitive whole-word matches drawn from the run’s variation set. “Cleaned” means the measurement runs against the text after markup is stripped, so nested tags inside the quote are not counted as matches — only the readable words are. Matching is whole-word and case-insensitive, so Repair and repair both count, but a term embedded inside a longer word does not.

Treat this as an observation, not a number to chase. Use blockquote only for genuine quoted material, and select relevant quotations that add evidence or expert context to the page. When a strong source quote naturally carries your topic’s vocabulary, the count reflects that — but the goal is a better, better-sourced page, not a higher figure. Do not add or edit quotations to raise this number.

- The factor does not verify quotation accuracy or attribution — it counts words, not whether the quote is real or correctly sourced.
- Cleaned text is measured, not nested markup, so tags inside a quote never register as matches.
- Long or malformed

- This is a prioritization signal correlated with pages in a measured result set, not a cause of ranking. A higher count does not make a page rank.
