Number of Affiliate Links – Zanox

This factor counts how many Zanox affiliate tracking parameters appear on the page — specifically zanpid= followed by digits — anywhere in the rendered, script-free body. It is a raw occurrence count, not a measure of link quality or attribution, so a higher or lower number is an observation about the page, not a target to chase.

What it measures

The factor counts Zanox tracking parameters that carry a numeric value. Zanox (a affiliate network now part of Awin) tags outbound partner links with a zanpid publisher/tracking identifier, and this count reflects how many such tagged parameters are present in the page body. It is a tally of Zanox affiliate tracking touchpoints, nothing more — it does not weigh, rank, or judge the links it finds.

How RankGear measures it

RankGear counts case-insensitive occurrences of the literal string zanpid= immediately followed by one or more digits, anywhere in the page body. Each match adds one to the count. Because the match is case-insensitive, variations such as ZanPID= are counted the same as zanpid=.

How to optimize it

Treat this count as an observation, not a target. Retain Zanox tracking parameters only for active, transparent partnerships, and remove obsolete tracking from links that no longer point to live programs. Do not add or inflate zanpid parameters to move the number — the count relates to how a page is tracked, and pushing it up or down does not itself change how a page ranks.

Important considerations

  • Plain text or raw source fragments containing zanpid= followed by digits can be counted, even when they are not live, clickable links.
  • Other affiliate link formats and networks may be missed — this factor only recognizes the Zanox zanpid parameter pattern, so it is not a total affiliate-link count.
  • The count does not verify attribution: it confirms the parameter is present, not that tracking or crediting actually works.
  • The inherited factor name contains a double space (“Number of Affiliate Links”); this is a naming artifact and does not affect measurement.
  • This is a correlation-level signal within a measured result set. A higher or lower count does not make a page rank or guarantee any position — it is one prioritization observation among many.
