Has Affiliate Links – Ebay

This factor reports whether the page contains a recognized eBay rover affiliate tracking URL. It returns 1 when at least one such link is found and 0 when none is present. Presence is an observed signal that a page participates in the eBay affiliate program — it does not confirm the link works, that inventory is live, or that the page ranks better because of it.

What it measures

This factor detects a recognized eBay rover tracking URL within the page. eBay’s affiliate network routes commissionable clicks through rover.ebay.com, so the presence of such a URL is a reliable marker that the page carries eBay affiliate links. RankGear records this as a simple presence flag rather than a count.

How RankGear measures it

RankGear searches the rendered, script-free page body case-insensitively for any HTTP or HTTPS URL beginning with rover.ebay.com/rover/. Any single match returns 1; if no such URL appears, the factor returns 0. Direct ebay.com product or listing URLs are not counted, because they carry no rover affiliate routing.

What RankGear looks for

<a href="https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?...">

</a>

// case-insensitive match on:  (https?://)rover.ebay.com/rover/
ValueMeaning
1At least one rover.ebay.com/rover/ URL is present in the page body.
0No eBay rover URL found. The page may still link to eBay directly, but not through affiliate routing.

How to optimize it

Treat this as an observation about your monetization pattern rather than a target to chase. If eBay affiliate links belong on the page, use rover links only where listings are genuinely relevant to the content, and make sure the page clearly discloses its commercial relationship. Because eBay inventory and destinations change, monitor your links so they continue to point to live, relevant listings. Adding rover links purely to trip this signal is not the intent — the factor describes the page, it does not improve it.

Important considerations

  • Direct eBay URLs (plain ebay.com product or listing links) are not affiliate-routed and can score 0 even when the page links to eBay.
  • Presence of a rover URL does not confirm that the link is valid or that the underlying listing is still available.
  • Product claims and pricing on affiliate-linked pages can become stale as eBay inventory turns over.
  • Disclosure of the commercial relationship and appropriate sponsored-link markup remain necessary regardless of this factor.
  • This is a correlation-based observation within a measured result set, not a cause of ranking. It flags a monetization pattern; it does not make a page rank.
