Number of AdRoll Ads

Number of AdRoll Ads counts how many recognized AdRoll tracking URLs appear on the rendered page. It is an occurrence count, not a measure of visible ads — one placement can fire several tracking calls, so the number reflects tracking activity, not what a visitor actually sees.

What it measures

This factor counts recognized AdRoll tracking URL occurrences on the page. Each match is a reference to AdRoll’s retargeting pixel infrastructure, so the value describes how much AdRoll tracking is wired into the page — not how many banners or creatives a reader will encounter.

How RankGear measures it

RankGear counts case-insensitive HTTP or HTTPS URLs beginning d.adroll.com/r/ within the rendered, script-free page body. Every occurrence that matches the pattern is added to the total, so repeated tracking calls to the same endpoint each increment the count.

What RankGear looks for

https://d.adroll.com/r/...
http://d.adroll.com/r/...
(case-insensitive, one count per matching occurrence)

How to optimize it

Treat this as an observation about your tracking footprint, not a target to raise or lower for its own sake. Retain AdRoll only when campaigns are active and compliant with privacy, consent, disclosure, and performance requirements. If tracking URLs remain from paused or retired campaigns, removing them lowers the count and trims dead tracking calls; if AdRoll is doing real work, the count simply reflects that.

Important considerations

  • The count does not equal visible ad quantity — a single placement can register several tracking URLs.
  • Repeated tracking calls can inflate the count without adding any new ad to the page.
  • Other AdRoll formats or endpoints that do not match the d.adroll.com/r/ pattern may be missed.
  • Audit the business value of each campaign separately; this factor does not judge whether the tracking is worthwhile.
  • Correlation is not causation. This factor relates to position within a measured result set — it is a prioritization signal, not something that makes a page rank or guarantees a ranking.
