Experiments: test one variable, read a live leaderboard
Correlation shows you where to look. A controlled experiment is how you find out for yourself. RankGear’s Lab designs a single-variable SEO test across one page per domain, helps you deploy it, and reads the outcome on a live SERP leaderboard.
Design the test, one variable at a time
Start from a hypothesis and let RankGear keep it clean — one variable, everything else held constant. You can write the raw spec yourself or use AI design help to draft variants and a control, then review every one before anything ships. A confounded test is worse than no test, so the workspace is built to isolate the single thing you’re measuring.
The evidence-first philosophy →
Deploy across a domain pool
Experiments run one page per domain across a pool you control, so each variant gets a clean slate instead of competing with itself on one site. RankGear renders the pages and helps you deploy them — then you wait for indexing before reading anything, because a test read too early is just noise.

Read the leaderboard
Once the variants are indexed, the leaderboard ranks them on a live SERP — which version of the single change actually placed better, measured, not guessed. Publish the write-up with its method, sample, and date, and it becomes a defensible result you can point clients and readers to.

Boundaries
What it is — and isn’t
A controlled test needs real pages, real domains, and time for indexing — results are not instant, and a single experiment is one data point, strongest when repeated. Deployment uses your own hosting and domains; RankGear helps you render and publish, it doesn’t supply the sites.
Correlation, not causation. An experiment measures how variants of one change placed in a live result set. A win is evidence for that change in that context — not a universal rule, and not a guarantee it repeats everywhere.
Questions, answered
What makes it a controlled experiment?
One variable changes at a time while everything else is held constant, and each variant lives on its own domain — so the leaderboard reflects the change, not a confound.
Why one page per domain?
So variants don’t compete with each other on the same site. Isolation is what makes the comparison trustworthy.
Do I need my own domains and hosting?
Yes. Experiments run across a pool of domains you control; RankGear designs, renders, and helps deploy the pages and then reads the outcome.
When can I trust the result?
After the variants are indexed and given time on the live SERP. Reading too early measures noise; a repeated result is stronger than a single run.
Stop guessing. Test it.
Design a single-variable experiment, deploy it across a domain pool, and let the leaderboard settle it.
