Variations in Meta X Description (RG-MET-019) counts how many keyword variations appear inside a page’s twitter:description meta tag — the summary text X (formerly Twitter) shows on a shared card. It is a coverage count, not a quality score: it tells you a variation is present in the value, not that the description reads well or persuades.

What it measures
This factor counts keyword variations in the X/Twitter card description. It looks only inside the twitter:description value — the short summary that populates the card preview when the page is shared on X — and reports how many of your tracked variations appear there.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear parses a double-quoted name="twitter:description" tag when a content attribute follows it, then sums case-insensitive whole-word variation matches found in that value. Matching is whole-word and case-insensitive, and every occurrence is counted, so a variation that appears more than once adds to the total each time.

Summarize the page’s value clearly for social users, using relevant terminology naturally. Treat the number as an observation of which variations are present in the card description, not a target to inflate — stuffing repeated variations will raise the count without helping the reader who sees the card. Write the description for the person deciding whether to click, and let relevant terms appear because they fit.
Important considerations
- Reversed or unconventional attribute layouts (for example
contentplaced beforename) may not match, so the count can read as zero even when a description is present. - The factor does not measure persuasiveness — it counts variation presence, not how compelling the description is.
- Multiple occurrences of a variation each count toward the total.
- Platform previews may truncate the description, so a variation that is counted here can still be cut off in the rendered card.
- This is a correlational coverage signal within a measured result set, not a guarantee of ranking or engagement; a higher count does not make a page rank or perform better on its own.
