What it measures
This factor reports Moz Domain Authority as supplied by DomDetailer. Domain Authority is Moz’s model-based estimate of a domain’s relative ranking strength, derived from Moz’s own link index. It is a comparative gauge of link profile — how a domain stacks up against others — rather than a direct measurement of the page being scored.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear reads the dd_mozDA value returned for the exact result URL. It does not calculate Domain Authority itself — the number comes straight from DomDetailer’s feed of Moz data. When that data is absent for a URL, the factor returns 0.

Treat the score as an observation about standing in a link index, not a dial you set — and read a 0 as possible missing data before assuming a weak profile.
Important considerations
- Domain Authority is a Moz metric. It is not used directly by Google, so it correlates with visibility rather than causing rankings.
- Compare scores only within a relevant market — DA is meaningful as a relative gauge against comparable domains, not as an absolute grade.
- Missing API data can appear as 0, which is not the same as a genuinely low score.
- Do not buy links to inflate the metric; manipulating the signal risks the site without earning real authority.
- A higher DA tracks with, but does not guarantee, better positions — it is a prioritization signal within a measured result set.
