Google Plus Ones reports the legacy Google+ “+1” count supplied for a result — a per-result off-page number that RankGear passes through from external run data. Google+ was discontinued, so this is a historical artifact: treat any value as observation, not a lever, and read a 0 as “none reported or unavailable,” not proof of anything.

What it measures
This factor reports the legacy Google Plus +1 count supplied for the result. It is an off-page social signal — a number attributed to the URL by an external source — rather than anything RankGear reads from the page itself. Because Google+ has been discontinued, any count you see reflects activity from the platform’s lifetime, not ongoing engagement.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear reads the corresponding optional integer field on SearchResult and returns its value. When the field is missing, the factor returns 0. There is no crawling, parsing, or calculation involved: the value is passed through exactly as provided in the run data, so its accuracy and freshness depend entirely on the upstream source.
How to read it
| If the value is… | Read it as |
|---|---|
| A positive count | A historical +1 total attributed to the URL — possibly stale, sampled, or URL-specific. Do not act on it. |
| 0 | Either zero reported activity or data that was unavailable for this result. The two cases are indistinguishable. |
How to optimize it
You cannot, and should not try to. Google Plus is discontinued, so there is no way to earn new +1 activity and no reason to. Treat any nonzero historical value cautiously and put your attention on current audience channels instead. This factor is an observation about the past, not a target to move.
Important considerations
- The value comes from external run data, not page HTML — RankGear does not verify or recompute it.
- A 0 can mean zero reported activity or unavailable data; the two are indistinguishable.
- Counts may be stale, sampled, URL-specific, or provider-dependent.
- Correlation does not prove that increasing this metric will improve rank — and the platform behind it no longer exists.
