The Number of LinkedIn Accounts factor counts how many LinkedIn personal-profile URLs (of the form linkedin.com/in/<identifier>) appear in a page’s rendered HTML. It returns a raw count of matching URL text — not distinct, verified, or active profiles — so read it as a structural observation, never as proof that more social links lift rankings.

What it measures
This factor counts LinkedIn personal-profile URLs that match the pattern linkedin.com/in/<identifier> within the measured zone. It targets links to individual people — an author, a founder, a named team member — rather than LinkedIn company pages or generic share widgets.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear runs a case-insensitive regular-expression scan across the rendered HTML with scripts removed and returns the number of matches. It counts matching URL text as it appears; it does not follow the links, deduplicate them, or confirm that any profile exists or is active.
What RankGear looks for
linkedin.com/in/<identifier>How to optimize it
Link to a genuine LinkedIn profile only when it is relevant to the page — for example, an identifiable author or team member whose credibility the link supports. Treat the count as an observation of what the page already contains, not a target to inflate; adding profile links that don’t belong on the page serves no reader and changes nothing about the page’s merit.
Important considerations
- This counts matching URL text, not distinct, verified, active profiles or successful shares.
- Repeated matches are counted separately, so the same profile linked twice adds two to the count.
- The detector follows a specific URL shape, so other valid modern LinkedIn URL forms may not count, and look-alike text can be counted.
- Correlation is not causation: treat this as a structural observation, not evidence that adding more social links improves a page’s position.
