Exact Matches in Body Tag

Exact Matches in Body Tag counts how many times the exact search query appears inside the page’s parsed body-tag text. It is a legacy compatibility factor whose body-tag parser currently returns an empty capture, so it evaluates to 0 for every page — a zero here is expected and says nothing about your content.

What it measures

This is a legacy compatibility factor. It is intended to count the number of exact-query occurrences within the parsed body tag — that is, how many times the searcher’s exact query string is found in the text captured from the page’s body element.

How RankGear measures it

RankGear calls the compatibility body-tag parser on the rendered HTML, then applies its flexible-separator exact-query matcher to whatever text that parser captures. In the current build the compatibility parser returns an empty capture, so the matcher has no text to scan and the factor resolves to 0 for every page measured. The behavior is intentional: it preserves the published legacy calculation exactly as it stood, rather than silently changing the number older analyses relied on.

How to optimize it

Treat this as an observation, not a target. No page change can move the current value, because the underlying body-tag capture is empty for every page regardless of content. To influence how your query appears in the visible body, work through the other keyword and body-text factors, which measure the actual rendered content of the page.

Important considerations

  • A zero here is expected and does not indicate missing or thin body content.
  • The zero result intentionally preserves the published legacy calculation, so historical scores stay comparable.
  • Do not use this factor as an editorial target — editing the page will not change it.
  • Other body-text factors measure your actual content; rely on those to assess on-page keyword usage.
  • Like every RankGear factor, this is a measured signal within a result set, not a lever that causes or guarantees a ranking; correlation is not causation.
