What it measures
This factor indicates whether any supplied entity occurs in an H4. H4s typically label nested subsections — the fourth level down in a page’s heading hierarchy — so the signal reflects whether your named entities surface at that finer level of the outline, rather than only in the page’s more prominent H1, H2, or H3 headings.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear lowercases the recognized H4 text and tests your entity strings, as supplied, using substring matching. Each entity is checked for its presence anywhere within the lowercased H4 text; a single hit across any H4 returns 1, and no match returns 0. Because the H4 text is lowercased but the entity strings are compared exactly as you provided them, an entity supplied with uppercase letters can fail to match lowercase heading text.

How to optimize it
Mention an entity in an H4 only when it clearly defines that nested subsection. This is best read as an observation of how your outline is structured, not a target to chase: if a specific entity is genuinely the subject of a fourth-level subsection, naming it there is natural and this factor will reflect it. If your entity list uses capitalized names, supply them in lowercase (or otherwise match the tool’s lowercasing behavior) so detection is not missed on casing alone.
Important considerations
- Pages without H4s correctly score 0 — a 0 can simply mean the page’s outline never reaches the H4 level, not that an entity is missing.
- It does not evaluate relevance or accuracy; it only detects that the entity string is present in the heading text.
- Entity-list casing can affect detection, because H4 text is lowercased while entity strings are matched as supplied.
- Avoid manufacturing artificial heading depth just to place an entity in an H4 — keep the hierarchy honest to the content.
- This is a correlation-based prioritization signal, not a cause of ranking. It relates an entity’s presence in H4 headings to position within a measured result set; it does not make a page rank or guarantee any position.
