This factor reports how many sitelinks a search engine showed beneath a result — the small cluster of extra links (Pricing, Support, Docs, and so on) that can appear under a listing. RankGear returns the reported count as a whole number, and treats both missing data and no sitelinks as 0, so read it as an observation of how a result was rendered, not a target you set directly.

What it measures
This factor records the number of sitelinks reported for a search result — the supplementary navigation links a search engine may render below a listing to point at important destinations within the same site. It counts them; it does not weigh them. A larger count means more sitelinks were shown for that result at capture time, nothing more.
How RankGear measures it
RankGear reads SearchResult.numberOfSiteLinks from the parsed SERP result and returns it as an integer. When the field is absent, RankGear defaults the value to 0. Because of that default, a result with genuinely zero sitelinks and a result where the data was simply not present both surface as 0 — the count alone does not distinguish the two.
| Value | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Greater than 0 | The search engine rendered this many sitelinks under the result at capture time. |
| 0 | Either no sitelinks were shown, or the count was not reported. The factor does not separate these cases. |
How to optimize it
You cannot set a sitelink count directly, so treat this as an observation rather than a target. What you can influence is the site structure sitelinks are drawn from: build clear site architecture, use descriptive navigation, strengthen internal linking, and give important pages distinct, unambiguous titles so a search engine can identify the destinations worth surfacing. Whether sitelinks then appear — and how many — remains the search engine’s decision.
Important considerations
- Search engines choose whether sitelinks appear at all and which ones to show — the count is an outcome you observe, not a value you control.
- Missing data and zero sitelinks both return 0, so a 0 is ambiguous on its own.
- The factor counts sitelinks only; it does not judge their quality, relevance, or which pages were chosen.
- There is no direct markup that guarantees a particular sitelink count.
- This count correlates with how a result was presented within a measured SERP; it does not make a page rank or guarantee a position. Read it as a presentation signal, not a cause.
